Glistening

It has been raining since yesterday morning and it is making my whole world shiny and new. I’m appreciating the intensity of the colors and the clean smell in the air. The sky is a solid, flat sheet of white-gray that seems to be dialed into a continual misty downpour. It has provided a quiet atmosphere for nestling in and simply being. My daughter came home later Saturday evening and she cuddled up with me on the couch for the better part of the weekend thereafter. I was touched by her presence and her gentle, loving ways. I was also surprised to find a box of Godiva chocolates, a gift card to my favorite bookstore and a new pair of earrings waiting for me to open in honor of Mother’s Day. Tears rolled down my face as I read the handmade card and opened the gifts one-by-one. Then, they rolled again when she told me that she had worked in her friend’s yard to make the money for the gifts. I was so touched.

Today, I am grateful for… * being able to take gently these lessons that are coming at me so rapidly * the prior experience of having two cars repossessed over the last few decades for one reason or another which makes facing into it this time around seem like nothing * quiet, relaxing weekend * staying inside and listening to the rain * my daughter’s laughter.

I AM alive!
